Vic and his wife, Dorene Jeanette Leach Goin, resided in Shady Cove, Ore. They were vacationing for the winter in Yuma, Ariz. at the time of Vic's passing. Vic was born November 10, 1942 to Francis Lehman Goin and Viola Beatrice Smith Goin in Southgate, Calif. They preceded him in death. Vic and his younger sister, Janice, moved with their parents to Oakridge, Ore. where he spent his childhood. When he was 16, his family moved back to Palo Alto, Calif, where he graduated from Cumberland High School before moving back to Oregon on his own to work for the Forest Service. He attended SOC and OIT in southern Oregon. Vic was in the Armed Forces and served during the Vietnam and Korean Wars and was always been proud to be a veteran. In 1974, Vic met and fell in love with Dorene Leach and her daughter, Crystal. (Vic said later in life that he wasn't sure which one he loved first.) Vic and Dorene were married January 31, 1975, at Ruch Community Bible Church near Jacksonville, Ore. Shortly after Vic adopted Crystal, they had two more children, Elizabeth and Timothy. Other hobbies Vic enjoyed were hunting, fishing, and camping, as he was a 'cowboy at heart,' and in his later years dancing with his wife.
