11Nov Boer War – Carl Bastian Birkenbach (Africa) by douggieweeks Boer War, WW I Africa, WWI Carl Sebastian Birkenbach (Burton) (1881-1921) CS Birkenbach was a member of the Western Transvaal Command of the Boer forces during the Anglo Boer war from 1899 till 1902. WO 108/368 On 27 February 1900 his command was captured at Paardekraal. He was kept as POW on St Helena Island until the end of the war. Number WO 108/368.
